Spectators: 8007 (Terracing: 6007, Seating: 1841, VIP seats: 159) Roddie Kerracher kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Andy Ayson sped through Inverurie Locos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tam Daniels. In the 13th minute, Thomas Sporran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willie Hardie in the 15th minute of play forced Freshwater United's goalkeeper Hugh Ewart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Andy Ayson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tam Daniels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Inverurie Locos's Sam McLucas got a free kick in the 17th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Freshwater United's Hamish Davenport tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Andy Ayson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Thomas Sporran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Inverurie Locos's Willie Hardie got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chris Taylor charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chris Taylor the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 33 minutes into the match, Inverurie Locos's Innes McAulay broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Willie Hardie in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hugh Ewart saved Freshwater United from getting behind. Inverurie Locos's Tam Daniels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradley Stringer in the 39th minute of play. When Willie Hardie came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Inverurie Locos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Willie Hardie couldn't finish the play. When Thomas Fergus fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Freshwater United's protests and gave Thomas Fergus a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes Freshwater United got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Fergus. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Ayson to make the kick off. Hugh Ewart showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Sporran, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Andy Ayson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bradley Stringer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bradley Stringer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 68th play minutes Thomas Sporran shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Hugh Ewart and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 73rd minute, Inverurie Locos's Neil Dempster seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Neil Dempster the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Inverurie Locos protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Neil Dempster had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. When the match had been going on for 75 minutes, Freshwater United's Hamish Davenport got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Tam Daniels. Bradley Stringer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 81st minute of the match, Andy Ayson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tam Daniels saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Tam Daniels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Ayson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andy Ayson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Tam Daniels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tam Daniels didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 87th minute, which inside left pole to 2-3. The Freshwater United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Freshwater United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
