Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Daniel McDermid took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 8 played minutes Skelmorlie got a freekick which was hit by Adam McKessock. Kevin Stringer took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Keith McKelvie. Skelmorlie's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hugh Ewart took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel McDermid, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Craig Bowmaker's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Hugh Ewart skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Craig Bowmaker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Craig Bowmaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Craig Bowmakers short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Hugh Ewart to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 21st minute Andy Ayson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keith McKelvie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Craig Bowmaker came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Skelmorlie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Craig Bowmaker couldn't finish the play. After 26 minutes Freshwater United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alexander Lamondson who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Skelmorlie's Alexander Lamondson to fire away a dangerous shot which Hugh Ewart despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Daniel McDermid managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skelmorlie's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel McDermid was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hugh Ewart breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Craig Bowmaker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Ewart having to interfere. Craig Bowmaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel McDermid in the 39th minute of play forced Freshwater United's goalkeeper Hugh Ewart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Bradley Stringer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Freshwater United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With his leg Hugh Ewart managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when Skelmorlie's Craig Bowmaker fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Craig Bowmaker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Ewart having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Ayson to make the kick off. A collision led to Skelmorlie getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Fraser Connelly hit a great ball. The supporters of Freshwater United booed when Skelmorlie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel McDermid didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hugh Ewart showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Craig Bowmaker in the 60th minute of the match. Craig Bowmaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fraser Connelly hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Hugh Ewart showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel McDermid, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. If Craig Bowmaker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andy Ayson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keith McKelvie having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Freshwater United's Thomas Fergus got a free kick in the 80th minute. Craig Bowmaker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hugh Ewart read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. If Daniel McDermid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Keith McKelvie made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bradley Stringer in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute Craig Bowmaker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugh Ewart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel McDermid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniel McDermid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the match, Freshwater United's goal looked a bit too open when Craig Bowmaker came free, but Hugh Ewart reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Craig Bowmaker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Hugh Ewart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Skelmorlie's goal looked a bit too open when Andy Ayson came free, but Keith McKelvie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle went the supporters of Freshwater United were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Skelmorlie side.
