Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Tranent City's Theo McLagan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Danny Gilespie scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Malcolm McKechnie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theo McLagan in the 8th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angus Howison hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Danny Gilespie put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Malcolm McKechnie. After having played for 21 minutes, Andy McGorrie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tranent City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andy McGorrie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Malcolm McKechnie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angus Howison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Malcolm McKechnie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angus Howison in the 25th minute of the match. Angus Howison succeeded in the game's 28th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. 31 minutes into the match, Tranent City's goal looked a bit too open when Danny Gilespie came free, but Malcolm McKechnie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Danny Gilespie came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Rangers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Gilespie couldn't finish the play. Malcolm McKechnie came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Rangers FC's Danny Gilespie. But to his dismay, Danny Gilespie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Danny Gilespie was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Rob McIlwhom cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Fergus Fairbairn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Danny Gilespie in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Malcolm McKechnie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 61st match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bradley Carr to maneuver through the defense. After 63 played minutes Tranent City got a freekick which was hit by Rob McIlwhom. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Higginson in the 67th minute of play. Rob McIlwhom kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Kenny Higginson's late challenge caught a Rangers FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kenny Higginson helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes Tranent City got a freekick which was hit by Kenny Higginson. A hard shot by Tim Charles from long distance, 70 minutes into the match, got Malcolm McKechnie's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Fergus Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenny Higginson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenny Higginson, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. With a little luck, Tranent City's Malcolm McKechnie got control of the ball when Danny Gilespie tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Rob McIlwhom made a precise shot to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. Rangers FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danny Gilespie got free with Malcolm McKechnie in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 88th minute, Rob McIlwhom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 91 played minutes Tranent City got a freekick which was hit by Rob McIlwhom. Danny Gilespie took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Malcolm McKechnie. Malcolm McKechnie dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-6. The Tranent City supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Rangers FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Rangers FC.
