When Fergus Lecky came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Stromness fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fergus Lecky couldn't finish the play. If Fergus Lecky had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luke Hunter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Graeme Carr in the 11th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lucas Ainslie got free with Nicol Burnes in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lucas Ainslie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Nicol Burnes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Graeme Carr got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 27 minutes into the game, Greg Wilson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Keltic Academy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stromness the free kick. After a rather tough play, Keltic Academy's Greg Wilson got a free kick in the 28th minute. Fergus Lecky fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luke Hunter having to interfere. Lucas Ainslie who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Nicol Burnes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Luke Hunter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Graeme Carr in the 36th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Keltic Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Graeme Carr came free, but Luke Hunter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stromness's Nicol Burnes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Stromness from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Stromness booed when Keltic Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas McNeish didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricky McLea during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Stromness! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Ricky McLea was shown his second yellow card after 54 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 55 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Ricky McLea. When Hamish Combie fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Keltic Academy's protests and gave Hamish Combie a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Keltic Academy's Hamish Combie got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 69th minute Will Crombie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicol Burnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicol Burnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Will Crombie, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. When Fergus Lecky came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Stromness fans jumped to their feet. Lucas McNeish charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lucas McNeish the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 74th minute, Lucas McNeish hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Keith Cattanach could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Luke Hunter made a huge save. After having played for 79 minutes, Fergus Lecky managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stromness's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fergus Lecky was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Greg Wilson was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Stromness made a substitution. Steven Barns replaced Rupert Nelson. In the 84th match minute, Keltic Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Greg Wilson to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fergus Lecky got free with Luke Hunter in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lee McKellaigh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 93 minutes into the match, Keltic Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Fergus Lecky came free, but Luke Hunter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was a well-played corner which Angus Carruthers managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. When the referee blew the final whistle, Keltic Academy could leave the field as winners, despite Stromness having more of the ball for most of the match.
