Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Gareth Cunningham made the kick off which started today's match. Ronan McCune showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gareth Cunningham, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 7th minute Steven Dunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan McCune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Terence McCamie scored 1-0 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricky Hewitt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ronan McCune showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roddie McVicar, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After 20 played minutes Dunnottar Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Roddie McVicar. A long shot from Rupert McIlwhom in the 21st minute of play was well struck, but Ricky Hewitt made a really good save at the right post. In the 24th minute Steven Dunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan McCune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, Gareth Cunningham ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronan McCune was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. When Roddie McVicar fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dunnottar Athletic's protests and gave Roddie McVicar a yellow card for diving instead. After 31 played minutes Dunnottar Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Roddie McVicar. Ronan McCune took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gareth Cunningham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Terence McLachlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronan McCune showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steven Dunn in the 43rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roddie McVicar in the 46th minute of play forced Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patrick McLea made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Dunnottar Athletic's Gareth Cunningham ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ronan McCune. Ronan McCune yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Steven Dunn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Dunnottar Athletic's Steven Dunn slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ronan McCune. That made the score 1-4 after 57 minutes of play. After 61 played minutes Dunnottar Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Terence McLachlan. Grant McBurie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 65th minute Terence McCamie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricky Hewitt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ellon's Ronan McCune got control of the ball when Gareth Cunningham tried to sneak it across the goal line. 70 minutes into the game, Rupert McIlwhom was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ellon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dunnottar Athletic the free kick. In the 70th minute, Rupert McIlwhom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 72 played minutes Ellon got a freekick which was hit by Rupert McIlwhom. Steven Dunn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Ronan McCune tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ellon's Terence McCamie got a free kick in the 79th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Larry Fair got free with Ronan McCune in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steven Dunn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Larry Fair. Ronan McCune made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven Dunn in the 87th minute of play. Ellon's Rupert McIlwhom got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Rupert McIlwhom off the ground. The supporters of Dunnottar Athletic booed when Ellon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rupert McIlwhom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Larry Fair could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Ronan McCune however easily saved by the left post. Dunnottar Athletic's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
