Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dunnottar Athletic's Gareth Cunningham started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gavin Monzie charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gavin Monzie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gavin Monzie hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Steven Dunn, 3 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. James Elliott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roddie McVicar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 6th minute, Harold McPhater hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricky Hewitt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ken Bowmaker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute, Owen Murray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the match, Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Steven Dunn. An unexpected shot in the 17th minute by Gareth Cunningham got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ricky Hewitt came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Golspie's Ken Bowmaker. But to his dismay, Ken Bowmaker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 23 minutes into the match, Dunnottar Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Harold McPhater came free, but Ricky Hewitt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Golspie's James Elliott played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roddie McVicar in the 28th minute of play. After 28 played minutes Golspie got a freekick which was hit by Gavin Monzie. After having played for 29 minutes, Gareth Cunningham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunnottar Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gareth Cunningham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gareth Cunningham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. James Elliott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. James Elliott made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Gareth Cunningham sent off a good shot on target. Dunnottar Athletic's Ricky Hewitt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Bowmaker in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Steven Dunn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Golspie's Gavin Monzie got a free kick in the 43rd minute. A hard shot by Steven Dunn from long distance, 44 minutes into the match, got James Elliott's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some careless play in the Dunnottar Athletic defense, Ken Bowmaker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricky Hewitt. The Dunnottar Athletic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricky Hewitt should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Gareth Cunningham's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but James Elliott was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Terence McLachlan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. James Elliott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. James Elliott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gareth Cunningham in the 63rd minute of play. James Elliott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gareth Cunningham, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Logan Limond in the 70th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Golspie's Euan Basnett. In the 70th minute, Euan Basnett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Larry Fair kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Steven Dunn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricky Hewitt was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ken Bowmaker. If Steven Dunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute of the match Sid McCunn shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but James Elliott showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 90th minute, Terence McLachlan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 96 played minutes Dunnottar Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Neil Bailey. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Golspie walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
