An unexpectedly hard shot by Harry McFie in the 21st minute of play forced St.Mirren's goalkeeper Walter Wylie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Wylie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry McFie in the 28th minute of play. During the 39th minute of the match Harry McFie completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Harry McFie a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Harry McFie kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. The ARBROATH FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. St.Mirren were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Davie McCaig to strike the kick off in the second half. If Davie McCaig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the St.Mirren defense, Davie McCaig kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Walter Wylie. The St.Mirren fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Walter Wylie should have stopped the shot. Davie McCaig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 96 played minutes ARBROATH FC got a freekick which was hit by Nicol Fish. ARBROATH FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
