Stromness
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Les McCaa made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 3rd match minute, Scotland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duda Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Les McCaa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stromness's supporters rose to their feet, but Les McCaa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Grant McIlvora breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Henry Denoon charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henry Denoon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 7 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Henry Denoon. Phil Marnoch was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 7th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Scotland's Duda Saldanha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stephen Lamont made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Stephen Lamont didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wágner Guedes went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 19 played minutes Les McCaa rounded Scotland's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. 25 minutes into the match, Scotland's goalkeeper Grant McIlvora had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Les McCaa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duda Saldanha in the 27th minute of play forced Stromness's goalkeeper Stephen Lamont to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stephen Lamont showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Guedes in the 28th minute of the match. After 32 minutes, Wally McKieson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Scotland and the Stromness players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wally McKieson hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Stromness's Les McCaa couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Scotland. After 35 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Archie Small. Stromness's attentive Scott Symon managed to snatch the ball when Kenny McCorkill made a throw-in in the 38th minute of the game. Grant McIlvora took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Les McCaa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stephen Lamont showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Guedes in the 40th minute of the match. A collision led to Stromness getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Andy Lennie hit a great ball. 44 minutes into the match, Stromness's goal looked a bit too open when Duda Saldanha came free, but Stephen Lamont reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wágner Guedes was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Stromness's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Guedes came free, but Stephen Lamont reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute Ricky Lean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Lamont saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wágner Guedes kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. 56 minutes into the game, Iain McOwen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Scotland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stromness the free kick. Iain McOwen hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 59th match minute, Stromness was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Les McCaa to maneuver through the defense. Stephen Lamont made an important save on a dangerous shot by Duda Saldanha in the 61st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Scotland's Ricky Lean slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Stephen Lamont. That made the score 1-3 after 63 minutes of play. Stromness's Stephen Lamont proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Stromness from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute Ricky Lean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Lamont saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grant McIlvora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Les McCaa, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Stromness's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Wágner Guedes 77 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-4. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Craig Neil took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Stephen Lamont to make any attempt to save it. With a little luck, Stromness's Stephen Lamont got control of the ball when Craig Neil tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 95th minute, Craig Neil made a precise shot to the right of Stephen Lamont. Stromness's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. The Stromness supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Scotland's performance. The match ended with a win for Scotland.
