Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Les McCaa started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Stephen Lamont took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raymond Lonie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Taylor Coulson kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. The supporters of Stromness booed when Iona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamish Cavanagh didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Les McCaa. Stromness's Les McCaa quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Patrick McPheidiran, made in the 33rd minute of the game. Richard Frizell was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Les McCaa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Les McCaa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Iona's Richard Frizell proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Iona from getting a goal against them. After 41 played minutes Iona got a freekick which was hit by Brandon McKiggan. 42 minutes into the match, Stromness's Les McCaa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, Iona's Richard Frizell got control of the ball when Les McCaa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hamish Murdoson to make the kick off. Stephen Lamont made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raymond Lonie in the 54th minute. When Les McCaa came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Stromness fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Les McCaa couldn't finish the play. Ross Reilly made in the 69th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Brandon McKiggan immediately put the ball in play. After some careless play in the Iona defense, Les McCaa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Frizell. The Iona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Frizell should have stopped the shot. After 89 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Archie Small. There was no doubt that Stromness were the better team. Stromness's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
