Oliver Borthwick kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Derek Grewar in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ian McCabe saved ARBROATH FC from getting behind. After 79 minutes, Johnny Clyne mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maccaulich FC and the ARBROATH FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blair McAchounich in the 93rd minute of play forced Maccaulich FC's goalkeeper Sylvain Holemans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ARBROATH FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Maccaulich FC's much stronger midfield.
