Lochgelly
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) In the 3rd minute, Tommy McPhorich fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Frank Allan, passed just outside the right post. After having played for 4 minutes, Will McKillop managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lochgelly's supporters crossed their fingers, but Will McKillop was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ian Moray hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Greenock's Logan McKellaigh got a free kick in the 12th minute. Aaron Porter hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute of the match, Tommy McPhorich got a very nice opportunity to score, but Frank Allan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Frank Allan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Johnstone, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After having played for 26 minutes, Tommy McPhorich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lochgelly's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy McPhorich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tommy McPhorich got free with Frank Allan in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tommy McPhorich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy McPhorich blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frank Allan having to make a save. Tommy McPhorich scored 1-0 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frank Allan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 42ndth minute of the game Fergus Abbie who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lochgelly's Shaun Porter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Tommy McPhorich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greenock's Frank Allan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Johnstone in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when Fergus Abbie made the kick off in the second half. Ian Moray blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Shaun Porter having to make a save. When Lochgelly's Tommy McPhorich in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Greenock's goalie prevented a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johnny Bateman during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 60th minute, Johnny Bateman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fergus Abbie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shaun Porter having to interfere. When Paddy Gilchrist fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lochgelly's protests and gave Paddy Gilchrist a yellow card for diving instead. 68 minutes into the game, one of Lochgelly:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After a defensive mix-up in Greenock's zone, Martin Johnstone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Allan came out of the goal and Martin Johnstone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 80 minutes into the match, Greenock's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy McPhorich came free, but Frank Allan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy McPhorich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Frank Allan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Daniel Colquhoun came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Lochgelly fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Colquhoun couldn't finish the play. Frank Allan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy McPhorich in the 85th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ian Moray in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Shaun Porter saved Lochgelly from getting behind. 92 minutes into the match, Lochgelly's goalkeeper Shaun Porter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Douglas Hutchinson. Tommy McPhorich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Allan having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Lochgelly players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
