Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dylan Blair took the kick off in the first half of the match. The referee gave Perth a penalty, 3 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Bob Carlyle, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Beith's Gus Appleton. 0-1. Gus Appleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johnny Currie in the 6th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bob Carlyle during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th minute, Bob Carlyle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Stevie McQuisten came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Beith fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stevie McQuisten couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Duffy in the 11th minute of play forced Beith's goalkeeper Gus Appleton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 13 played minutes Beith got a freekick which was hit by Dylan Blair. In the 13th minute of the match Tom Burnes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gus Appleton skillfully saved the ball. Beith's Gus Appleton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Duffy in the 16th minute of play. Beith's Dylan Blair got his second yellow card of the match in the 17th minute. The referee ordered Dylan Blair off the ground. Beith's Scott McIock got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 23 minutes into the game, Tom Burnes threw the ball into play from the sideline. Beith's Alexander Davis quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Tony McVurich managed to get in a good position for a shot. Beith's supporters rose to their feet, but Tony McVurich was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tyler Graham breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Beith's Alexander Marnoch got a free kick in the 38th minute. Beith's Gus Appleton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cameron Gilfillan in the 42nd minute of play. Bob Carlyle placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In the 46th match minute, Beith was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Scott McIock to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Beith defense, Johnny Currie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gus Appleton. The Beith fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gus Appleton should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cameron Gilfillan to make the kick off. Simon Duffys short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Gus Appleton to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Stevie McQuisten charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stevie McQuisten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Perth booed when Beith was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevie McQuisten didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Gus Appleton managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Perth's Simon Duffy fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Perth's Simon Duffy got a free kick in the 68th minute. Perth's Cameron Gilfillan got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Beith's Gus Appleton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cameron Gilfillan in the 78th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Perth's Simon Duffy ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gus Appleton. Gus Appleton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. The Perth supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Perth would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
