Spectators: 9209 (Terracing: 6909, Seating: 2117, VIP seats: 183) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rupert Campbell took the kick off in the first half of the match. Larry McLulich could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Shaun Porter made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Rupert Campbell took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Shaun Porter to make any attempt to save it. Tommy McPhorich charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tommy McPhorich the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tommy McPhorich hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Rupert Campbell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Shaun Porter made a huge save. Nicky McEwan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Johnstone in the 25th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rupert Campbell in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Shaun Porter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 29th minute, Rupert Campbell reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Shaun Porter. The goal made the score 2-0. Nicky McEwan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Johnstone in the 33rd minute of play. Rupert Campbell came free with the goalkeeper in the 36th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Shaun Porter could save by the left post. Lochgelly's Shaun Porter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rupert Campbell in the 38th minute of play. Nicky McEwan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy McPhorich, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lochgelly's Shaun Porter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Lochgelly from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Muir United's Rupert Campbell slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Shaun Porter. That made the score 3-0 after 48 minutes of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tommy McPhorich was the one to do the kick off. Muir United's Nicky McEwan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Johnstone in the 55th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Lochgelly's goal looked a bit too open when Jay McKellar came free, but Shaun Porter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Arthur Aird fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lochgelly's protests and gave Arthur Aird a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Muir United booed when Lochgelly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arthur Aird didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute of the match, Tommy McPhorich got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicky McEwan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Larry McLulich charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Larry McLulich the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 64th minute, Larry McLulich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Martin Johnstone managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lochgelly's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Johnstone was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicky McEwan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lochgelly's Shaun Porter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rupert Campbell in the 66th minute of play. In the 68th minute Rupert Campbell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shaun Porter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vinny Ellwood hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Martin Johnstone didn't quite understand what happened when in the 72 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Tommy McPhorich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shaun Porter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jay McKellar in the 81st minute of the match. Rupert Campbell took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Shaun Porter. Shaun Porter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. After a rather tough play, Muir United's Jonathan Combie got a free kick in the 84th minute. With a little luck, Muir United's Nicky McEwan got control of the ball when Tommy McPhorich tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nicky McEwan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Colquhoun, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Will McKillop's late challenge caught a Muir United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Will McKillop helped the player get up and apologised. After 88 played minutes Lochgelly got a freekick which was hit by Will McKillop. 89 minutes into the match, Lochgelly's goal looked a bit too open when Jay McKellar came free, but Shaun Porter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the game, Martin Johnstone recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nicky McEwan. Martin Johnstone showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1. In the 98th minute, Rupert Campbell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Muir United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. The Muir United players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
