In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Port Edinburgh AFC's goalkeeper Tony McHarold, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Port Edinburgh AFC's Tony McHarold proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Port Edinburgh AFC from getting a goal against them. The corner led to Port Edinburgh AFC's Alan McKerlich getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 30 minutes into the game, Denis Morar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Iain Hawes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Denis Morar scored 0-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iain Hawes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Port Edinburgh AFC booed when Dragons Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Greig Pollard didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Joe Mathie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Port Edinburgh AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joe Mathie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Tyler McThomas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iain Hawes. Dragons Academy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tyler McThomas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dragons Academy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joe Mathie was slow to take the kick. During this time Port Edinburgh AFC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Port Edinburgh AFC's Alan McKerlich to fire away a dangerous shot which Iain Hawes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 45th minute, Sid Fyfe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Dragons Academy players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Port Edinburgh AFC were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Les McFarlane was the one to do the kick off. Iain Hawes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eddie Baptist in the 53rd minute. Tony McHarold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conor Lawrie in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Port Edinburgh AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Hill came free, but Tony McHarold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute Terry McCay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony McHarold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iain Hawes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Morar, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 64th minute of the match, Tyler McThomas got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iain Hawes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Iain Hawes made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Eddie Baptist sent off a good shot on target. Port Edinburgh AFC were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after Dragons Academy's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joe Mathie took the corner. Tony McHarold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Fyfe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, Port Edinburgh AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Conor Lawrie came free, but Tony McHarold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denis Morar got free with Iain Hawes in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Conor Lawrie struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Tony McHarold didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dragons Academy. After a rather tough play, Port Edinburgh AFC's Joe Mathie got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Dragons Academy's Frank McIssac couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Port Edinburgh AFC. If Conor Lawrie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th match minute, Dragons Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Greig Pollard to maneuver through the defense. The Dragons Academy supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Port Edinburgh AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Port Edinburgh AFC.
