After 13 played minutes Smiddy Celts got a freekick which was hit by Graeme Gordon. In the 13th minute, Graeme Gordon fired away a hard free kick towards the goal. Iain Hawes moved to his left, but didn't have to make a save as the ball went out of bounds. Phillip McKeochan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iain Hawes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. With a little luck, Smiddy Celts's Jesse McJames got control of the ball when Conor Lawrie tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 19thth minute of the game Sam Hill who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Smiddy Celts's Jesse McJames was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jesse McJames had in the 36thth minute some difficulties stopping Frank McIssac's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 37th minute Dragons Academy were awarded a corner. Frank McIssac went to the cornerflag to take it. Graeme Gordon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Iain Hawes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 46 played minutes Smiddy Celts got a freekick which was hit by Paddy Thomson.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Graeme McRobie to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Dragons Academy's goalkeeper Iain Hawes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Graeme Gordon. Jesse McJames made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Les McFarlane in the 54th minute of play. Jesse McJames showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Les McFarlane, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute.
