Jacinto Barcelos's late challenge caught a Tires's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Alcanhoes's Afonso Henriques got a free kick in the 35th minute. José Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Adalberto Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Tires booed when Alcanhoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nivaldo Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 minutes Alcanhoes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ricardo Amaral who took care of the corner kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Dantas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Pedro Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Alcanhoes's zone, Pedro Torres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adalberto Vale came out of the goal and Pedro Torres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aloísio Vilar kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Fragoso in the 74th minute of play forced Tires's goalkeeper Diamantino Matias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adalberto Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Vale having to interfere. When Paulo Fragoso came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Alcanhoes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Fragoso couldn't finish the play. In the 91st minute, Domingos Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 93 minutes, Afonso Henriques managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alcanhoes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Henriques was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Tires's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Fragoso came free, but Diamantino Matias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Tires players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
