After a rather tough play, Caratao FC's Januário Lamego got a free kick in the 5th minute. Carlos Monteiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raimundo Aragão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Emílio Rego blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raimundo Aragão having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Caratao FC's Januário Lamego got a free kick in the 26th minute. Emílio Rego who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Raimundo Aragão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Columbeira's goalkeeper Eliseu Vilanova, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Januário Lamego recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlos Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raimundo Aragão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emílio Rego in the 41st minute. If Carlos Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Januário Lamego notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Columbeira's Eliseu Vilanova. Eliseu Vilanova was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Monteiro made a kick off. Carlos Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Raimundo Aragão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Carlos Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Columbeira's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Monteiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raimundo Aragão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Monteiro in the 62nd minute of play forced Caratao FC's goalkeeper Raimundo Aragão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Carlos Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caratao FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Januário Lamego was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Rego in the 84th minute of play forced Caratao FC's goalkeeper Raimundo Aragão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Januário Lamego charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Januário Lamego the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 94th minute Emílio Rego shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundo Aragão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caratao FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
