After a rather tough play, VRM's Alcides Meireles got a free kick in the 4th minute. David Santarém showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Mascarenhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. David Santarém took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Homero Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emílio Estrada hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Normando Ribas in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vicente Fontoura prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 18 minutes into the match, SC Aipo's Reinaldo Severo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente Fontoura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19thth minute of the game Reinaldo Severo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VRM's Vicente Fontoura was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alexandre Mascarenhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute Reinaldo Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Fontoura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emílio Estrada hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. When SC Aipo's Normando Ribas in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VRM's goalie prevented a goal. David Santarém made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Homero Rodrigues in the 37th minute of play. After some careless play in the SC Aipo defense, Homero Rodrigues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Santarém. The SC Aipo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Santarém should have stopped the shot. A collision led to VRM getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Catarino Mafra hit a great ball. Vicente Fontoura was out of position in the 45 minute of play, and Normando Ribas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Normando Ribas really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Alexandre Mascarenhas made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to SC Aipo getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Jorge Pedroso hit a great ball. The supporters of VRM booed when SC Aipo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Almiro Bettencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Santarém was a little too slow when Alexandre Mascarenhas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 1-2. In the 63rd minute of the match Diamantino Queirós sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but David Santarém skillfully saved the ball. After 64 minutes of play, SC Aipo's Normando Ribas made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vicente Fontoura was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Homero Rodrigues got free with David Santarém in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alexandre Mascarenhas struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. David Santarém didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VRM. After a rather tough play, VRM's Alcides Meireles got a free kick in the 78th minute. After 80 minutes, Catarino Mafra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VRM and the SC Aipo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 80 played minutes VRM got a freekick which was hit by Catarino Mafra. David Santarém showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Mascarenhas in the 85th minute of the match. Almiro Bettencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. VRM's Micael Salgado shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 93rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by David Santarém but with some difficulty. Teodoro Pinhal kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. The SC Aipo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching VRM's performance. The match ended with a win for VRM.
