The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gil Vicente's Osvaldo Horta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Baptista in the 4th minute of play. A collision led to Gil Vicente getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Vítor Paredes hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adolfo Santarém got free with Osvaldo Horta in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vítor Paredes kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. A collision led to Gil Vicente getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Hamilton Maia hit a great ball. David Aguiar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Osvaldo Horta having to make a save. Osvaldo Horta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adolfo Santarém, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Franca FC's David Aguiar got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 21st minute Adolfo Santarém shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Horta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Gil Vicente's zone, David Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldo Horta came out of the goal and David Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 27 minutes into the match, Franca FC's Adolfo Santarém sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osvaldo Horta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Gil Vicente's goal looked a bit too open when David Aguiar came free, but Osvaldo Horta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osvaldo Horta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Santarém, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Franca FC booed when Gil Vicente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamilton Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osvaldo Horta stood somewhat misplaced when David Aguiar came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 37 minute. A collision led to Franca FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. David Aguiar hit a great ball. If José Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Gil Vicente's goal looked a bit too open when Adolfo Santarém came free, but Osvaldo Horta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vítor Paredes made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Gil Vicente's goal looked a bit too open when Adolfo Santarém came free, but Osvaldo Horta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute, Adolfo Santarém got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Adolfo Santarém ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Osvaldo Horta was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. David Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Osvaldo Horta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute Franca FC were awarded a corner. Jorge Vale went to the cornerflag to take it. Osvaldo Horta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaspar Fontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Franca FC's Adolfo Santarém got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. David Aguiar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If David Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldo Horta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Santarém, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Franca FC fully deserved thier win.
