Jordão Manso started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes into the match, Zé Tó F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jordão Laureano came free, but Hermínio Toscano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hermínio Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Mansilha in the 7th minute of play. After some careless play in the Zé Tó F.C. defense, Sílvio Galvão kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hermínio Toscano. The Zé Tó F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hermínio Toscano should have stopped the shot. After 10 played minutes Pico FC got a freekick which was hit by Jordão Laureano. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joaquim Paião during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th minute, Joaquim Paião hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Mansilha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Toscano having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Pico FC's Pedro Mansilha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hermínio Toscano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pedro Mansilha in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hermínio Toscano saved Zé Tó F.C. from getting behind. In the 31st minute Jordão Laureano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Pico FC booed when Zé Tó F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Assunção didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermínio Toscano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Mansilha's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Hermínio Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Galvão in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Mansilha in the 36th minute of play forced Zé Tó F.C.'s goalkeeper Hermínio Toscano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Pedro Mansilha put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Hermínio Toscano. 42 minutes into the game, Pedro Mansilha cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Hermínio Toscano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Zé Tó F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pico FC were winning 0-6.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jordão Laureano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Jordão Laureano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kevin Zarco kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After having played for 54 minutes, Sílvio Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pico FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Galvão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Hermínio Toscano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Pico FC's Jordão Laureano in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Zé Tó F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. With a little luck, Zé Tó F.C.'s Hermínio Toscano got control of the ball when Pedro Mansilha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hermínio Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th minute Ricardo Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antero Laureano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute of the match, Pedro Mansilha got a very nice opportunity to score, but Hermínio Toscano was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Zé Tó F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Jordão Laureano scored to the left of an out of position Hermínio Toscano, making the score, 0-7. In the 74th minute, Pico FC's Sílvio Galvão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-8. After 77 played minutes Pico FC got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Valentim. When Vicente Corte-Real came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Pico FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Corte-Real couldn't finish the play. 85 minutes into the game, Pico FC's Jordão Laureano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hermínio Toscano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-9. Pedro Mansilha came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Hermínio Toscano could save by the left post. Hermínio Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Pico FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zé Tó F.C. throughout the match.
