Hélder Mesquita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. João Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Hélder Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that João Mendes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hélder Mesquita was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Estevão Porto got free with Catarino Carvalho in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorge Nunes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hélder Mesquita having to make a save. João Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder Mesquita having to interfere. Jorge Nunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 29 minutes of play, MTBA FC's João Mendes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hélder Mesquita was left in no man's land by his defense there! A hard shot 32 in the game by Estevão Porto from a close distance when the talented Catarino Carvalho managed to make a qualified save. MTBA FC's players were relieved. Covinhas's Estevão Porto was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 32nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Hélder Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Mendes in the 36th minute of play. 43 minutes into the game, Pedro Castro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MTBA FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Covinhas the free kick. Pedro Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Leme in the 46th minute of play forced MTBA FC's goalkeeper Catarino Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 49th minute, Anselmo Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anselmo Leme stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Covinhas were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after MTBA FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Julião Vilaça took the corner. The corner ended in Julião Vilaça almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but MTBA FC's Catarino Carvalho did a great save. After some careless play in the Covinhas defense, Jorge Nunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélder Mesquita. The Covinhas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélder Mesquita should have stopped the shot. Covinhas's Hélder Mesquita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Covinhas from getting a goal against them. 64 minutes into the game, Estevão Porto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Covinhas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MTBA FC the free kick. MTBA FC's Cristóvão Pires was substituted for Sérgio Brito. The supporters of MTBA FC booed when Covinhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Estevão Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute João Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Catarino Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Leme in the 98th minute of play. After 98 played minutes MTBA FC got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Castro. When the final whistle sounded MTBA FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Covinhas.
