Adalberto Noronha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Jesus in the 44th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorge Antunes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lázaro Estrela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Balsemao booed when SC Guimarães was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Curado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, SC Guimarães's Octávio Brandão got a free kick in the 76th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Balsemao's Jorge Antunes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Adalberto Noronha. That made the score 2-2 after 79 minutes of play. After having played for 84 minutes, João Jesus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balsemao's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Jesus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adalberto Noronha was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jorge Antunes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 87 minute of play. Jorge Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Noronha having to interfere. In the 98th minute, João Jesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
