Armamar FC's Nivaldo Santarém played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Tavares in the 7th minute of play. Hélio Paiva hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the match, Tanganheira FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Torres came free, but Abílio Alves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Idalécio Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Osvaldo Sequeira in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nivaldo Santarém prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nivaldo Santarém took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Sequeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the game, Adelino Antunes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Abílio Alves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 29 minutes into the game, Tanganheira FC's Idalécio Borges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nivaldo Santarém made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Osvaldo Sequeira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nivaldo Santarém came out and tried to block the shot, but Osvaldo Sequeira slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 32nd minute. Ivo Almeida struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Nivaldo Santarém didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tanganheira FC. Nivaldo Santarém made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Tavares in the 38th minute of play. Ivo Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nivaldo Santarém having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 41st minute by Osvaldo Sequeira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Idalécio Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tanganheira FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Idalécio Borges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nivaldo Santarém breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Pedro Matias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Danilo Tavares was the one to do the kick off.
