The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Pedro Trindade hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Hilário Igrejas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eduardo Santos's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. If Juliano Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquim Barbosa didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 19th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. 27 minutes into the match, Sporting Vilar Formoso's Quintino Setúbal broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 35thth minute of the game Pedro Trindade who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coimbra's Joaquim Barbosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. From close distance Juliano Jesus pressed in the 3-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 40 minutes into the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juliano Jesus got free with Joaquim Barbosa in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucas Leiria stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Coimbra's zone, Pedro Trindade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Barbosa came out of the goal and Pedro Trindade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th minute, Artur Anjos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cláudio Tristão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 63 played minutes Sporting Vilar Formoso got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Trindade. In the 64th minute, Graciano Rangel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Duarte Pinto from long distance, 67 minutes into the match, got Hilário Igrejas's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Lucas Leiria took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Hilário Igrejas to make any attempt to save it. Eduardo Santos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hilário Igrejas having to make a save. Sporting Vilar Formoso's Hilário Igrejas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Vilar Formoso from getting a goal against them. Eduardo Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hilário Igrejas having to interfere. Pedro Trindade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Joaquim Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
