Micael Quintanilha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Hermenegildo Ventura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albertino Oliveira hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 10 minutes into the game, Emanuel Guerreiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vitoria SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Loivos FC the free kick. Hermenegildo Ventura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durval Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Loivos FC booed when Vitoria SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Novais didn't get a good kick on the ball. Micael Quintanilha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermenegildo Ventura having to interfere. If Durval Cortez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hermenegildo Ventura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Domingues in the 48th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Durval Cortez to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Vitoria SC's goalkeeper Hermenegildo Ventura had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Micael Quintanilha. The referee felt a red card was in order, 54 minutes into the game, when Jaime Novais put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Vitoria SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 53rd minute. Penalty! Diogo Silva shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 57th minute, Albertino Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 60 played minutes Loivos FC got a freekick which was hit by Micael Quintanilha. Estevão Pacheco kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Loivos FC's Durval Cortez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hermenegildo Ventura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Durval Cortez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Micael Quintanilha struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Hermenegildo Ventura didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Loivos FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durval Cortez in the 74th minute of play forced Vitoria SC's goalkeeper Hermenegildo Ventura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Micael Quintanilha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Vitoria SC's zone, Durval Cortez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermenegildo Ventura came out of the goal and Durval Cortez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Loivos FC played a much better game than Vitoria SC and deserved their victory. The Vitoria SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
