Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Nuno Pessoa started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Afonso Matias managed to get in a good position for a shot. benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Matias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Estevão Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Estevão Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Melo in the 8th minute of play. Afonso Matias in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Estevão Vargas, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 27 played minutes FC Lusitânia got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Barros. In the 33rdth minute of the game Joaquim Melo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Lusitânia's Estevão Vargas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 35 minutes, Afonso Matias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Matias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Matias struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Estevão Vargas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for benfica. Estevão Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Melo in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Joaquim Melo made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, benfica's Joaquim Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Estevão Vargas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Joaquim Melo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Estevão Vargas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of benfica booed when FC Lusitânia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Estevão Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62ndth minute of the game Joaquim Melo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Lusitânia's Estevão Vargas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 64th minute, Joaquim Melo made a precise shot to the right of Estevão Vargas. FC Lusitânia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 69th minute, Jacinto Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 played minutes benfica got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Porto. After 75 minutes of play, benfica's Afonso Matias made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Estevão Vargas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Joaquim Melo might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Estevão Vargas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joaquim Melo ran back to his position shaking his head. Laércio Nunes got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 82nd minute, Laércio Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 84 minutes, Simão Paredes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the benfica and the FC Lusitânia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in FC Lusitânia's zone, Afonso Matias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Estevão Vargas came out of the goal and Afonso Matias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Afonso Matias might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Estevão Vargas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Afonso Matias ran back to his position shaking his head. If Afonso Matias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of benfica booed when FC Lusitânia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Pessoa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gaspar Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaspar Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the referee ended the match the benfica players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
