The crowd rose to their feet as Américo Viana kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jorge Abreu. That made the score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. In the 12th minute, Rodrigo Matias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Américo Viana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge Abreu having to make a save. If Diogo Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Diogo Mota managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pombas's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Mota was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diogo Mota got free with Jorge Abreu in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Américo Viana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Abreu was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Pombas's Armando Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Matias in the 34th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Pombas's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Matias came free, but Armando Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, Rodrigo Matias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gil Leiria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Américo Viana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Pombas fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mourelos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
