But to his dismay, Óscar Araújo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. One of FCVILABOA:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Marateca FC:s goal. Xavier Neto shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. 42 minutes into the game, Marateca FC's Bernardo Moura nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Himmet Neda made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Cláudio Setúbal made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Marateca FC's Himmet Neda threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rogério Silva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After having played for 57 minutes, Humberto Matias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FCVILABOA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Matias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FCVILABOA's Himmet Neda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Bessa in the 82nd minute of play. FCVILABOA's Álvaro Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Prospero Jeraldo kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Himmet Neda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogério Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. With a little luck, FCVILABOA's Himmet Neda got control of the ball when Óscar Araújo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 91st minute, Jaime Amaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavier Lopes during the 92nd minute.
