Abel Matos, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Nuno Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexandre Oliveira in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angélico Ribeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Afonso Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Angélico Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alexandre Oliveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Amorim scored 2-0 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Angélico Ribeiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Monsanto's zone, Afonso Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angélico Ribeiro came out of the goal and Afonso Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Rodrigos's Alexandre Oliveira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albérico Bessa made a kick off. Miguel Amaro scored 4-0 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Angélico Ribeiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Monsanto booed when Rodrigos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Viegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hipólito Pinto struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Hélder Melo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monsanto. A collision led to Rodrigos getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Carlos Viegas hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the match, Monsanto's Hipólito Pinto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélder Melo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albérico Bessa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hélder Melo having to make a save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 69 minutes into the game, when Simão Viegas put in a rough tackle. 68 minutes into the game, one of Rodrigos:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 71 minutes, Monsanto's Leonel Gentil got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Hélder Melo. 75 minutes into the match, Rodrigos's goal looked a bit too open when Albérico Bessa came free, but Hélder Melo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Monsanto's zone, Inácio Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angélico Ribeiro came out of the goal and Inácio Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Monsanto getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Artur Rios hit a great ball. Monsanto's Angélico Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Amorim in the 82nd minute of play. After having played for 88 minutes, Jaime Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monsanto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Peixoto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nuno Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodrigos walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
