The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cândido Neto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Rangel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavier Pinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Diamantino Vides kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Francisco Garcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Rangel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Xavier Pinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Francisco Garcia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Refontoura fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Refontoura's goalkeeper Alberto Reis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 40th minute Nuno Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Rangel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francisco Garcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Rangel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. In the 43rd minute of the match Cândido Moura shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Rangel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alberto Reis came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Castro's Valentim Ramos. But to his dismay, Valentim Ramos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xavier Pinto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Xavier Pinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Rangel having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francisco Garcia in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Rangel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Refontoura's Alberto Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentim Ramos in the 63rd minute of play. In the 66th minute, Castro's Valentim Ramos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alberto Reis. Alberto Reis yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 70th minute, Nuno Maia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valentim Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Rangel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Garcia in the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cândido Neto in the 80th minute of play forced Castro's goalkeeper Carlos Rangel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Rangel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Xavier Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Castro's Carlos Rangel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavier Pinto in the 86th minute of play. Valentim Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Reis having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Castro walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
