Os campeoes's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Azeredo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Os campeoes's Nuno Martins slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Juvenal Azeredo. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. After 16 played minutes Desportiva da Vila got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Vidigal. The supporters of Desportiva da Vila booed when Os campeoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mário Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 25th minute, Gregório Quintas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Desportiva da Vila defense, Mário Pires kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juvenal Azeredo. The Desportiva da Vila fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juvenal Azeredo should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Desportiva da Vila getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Gregório Quintas hit a great ball. Juvenal Azeredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the match, Hélder Vidigal notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Os campeoes's Gonçalo Coimbra. Gonçalo Coimbra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Desportiva da Vila's Humberto Estrela got a free kick in the 41st minute. Nuno Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Azeredo having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nuno Martins made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Desportiva da Vila's Alfredo Domingos got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Os campeoes's Nuno Martins got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Desportiva da Vila's Juvenal Azeredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Martins in the 57th minute of play. In the 69th minute, Hélder Vidigal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Os campeoes booed when Desportiva da Vila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregório Quintas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juvenal Azeredo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Martins in the 82nd minute of the match. Krzysztof Lewkowicz charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Krzysztof Lewkowicz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Desportiva da Vila booed when Os campeoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Krzysztof Lewkowicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nuno Martins struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Juvenal Azeredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Os campeoes. For all the effort they put into the match, the Desportiva da Vila players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Os campeoes.
