Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cândido Castro in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nuno Matias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oliveira Pires hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, Paiao's goal looked a bit too open when Cândido Castro came free, but Nuno Matias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Calvelhe's Alexandre Fernandes got a free kick in the 18th minute. Sandro Vilar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Pedro Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cândido Castro came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Calvelhe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cândido Castro couldn't finish the play. 27 minutes into the match, Calvelhe's goalkeeper Pedro Abreu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Lages. When Cândido Castro came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Calvelhe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cândido Castro couldn't finish the play. When Álvaro Matias fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Calvelhe's protests and gave Álvaro Matias a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th minute, João Lages got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paiao's Nuno Matias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cândido Castro in the 38th minute of play. Nuno Matias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cândido Castro's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Sandro Vilar took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Pedro Abreu to make any attempt to save it.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cândido Castro made a kick off. The long shot by Diamantino Carvalho in the 53rd minute really tested Nuno Matias's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Cândido Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nuno Matias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cândido Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Paiao getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Herberto Telinhos hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the game, Cândido Castro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nuno Matias. Cândido Castro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. With a little luck, Paiao's Nuno Matias got control of the ball when Cândido Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 71 played minutes Paiao got a freekick which was hit by Emílio Vilaverde. With his leg Nuno Matias managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Calvelhe's Cândido Castro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Herberto Telinhos fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After 89 played minutes Calvelhe got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Fonseca. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Cândido Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calvelhe's supporters rose to their feet, but Cândido Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nuno Matias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Lages recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
