The audience was convinced that Damião Raminhos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tarcísio Ferreira was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Paulo Soveral kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Amílcar Pacheco made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Heitor Damásio sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 24 minutes, Alípio Gois managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Atomicos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alípio Gois was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alípio Gois received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Tarcísio Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Alípio Gois ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tarcísio Ferreira was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Damião Raminhos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tarcísio Ferreira having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alípio Gois in the 38th minute of play forced Matelinho's goalkeeper Tarcísio Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Matelinho's Laércio Camacho got a free kick in the 40th minute. Ricardo Baía missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 42 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Tarcísio Ferreira right hand side. Damião Raminhos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Tarcísio Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damião Raminhos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcísio Ferreira having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Quintino Azeredo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Atomicos were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Matelinho's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ricardo Baía took the corner. 57 minutes into the game, Roberto Baptista was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Matelinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Atomicos the free kick. A hard shot 60 in the game by Damião Raminhos from a close distance when the talented Tarcísio Ferreira managed to make a qualified save. Matelinho's players were relieved. In the 68th minute Heitor Damásio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amílcar Pacheco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Damião Raminhos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tarcísio Ferreira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alípio Gois's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Alípio Gois recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Damião Raminhos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Tarcísio Ferreira made a huge save. Tarcísio Ferreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Damião Raminhos in the 90th minute. Alípio Gois received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Tarcísio Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over SC Atomicos could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Matelinho throughout the match.
