The SC Garfe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aristides Corte-Real should have stopped the shot. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Torrego's goalkeeper Hélder Álvares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 21 played minutes Torrego got a freekick which was hit by Quintino Palmeira. If Romão Lages had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 31 played minutes Torrego got a freekick which was hit by Silvano Zambujal. With a little luck, Torrego's Hélder Álvares got control of the ball when Armindo Quadros tried to sneak it across the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Flávio Pinheiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hélder Álvares, 2-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Timóteo Oliveira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hélder Álvares. That made the score 3-1 in the 39 minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Flávio Pinheiro to make the kick off. A collision led to Torrego getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Adérito Brás hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Neves in the 53rd minute of play forced SC Garfe's goalkeeper Aristides Corte-Real to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romão Lages took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hélder Álvares. Hélder Álvares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Hélder Álvares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romão Lages in the 82nd minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Torrego's goal looked a bit too open when Armindo Quadros came free, but Hélder Álvares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st match minute, Torrego was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Neves to maneuver through the defense. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Torrego's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Armindo Quadros was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Garfe's players had a chance to rest. Armindo Quadros made a great header on SC Garfe's corner, it was just that Torrego's Hélder Álvares managed to reach the ball for a save.
