In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pico's goalkeeper Damião Lobo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Catarino Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Estanque booed when Pico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Estevão Bentes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bernardo Dantas hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarbas Damásio in the 69th minute of play forced Estanque's goalkeeper Vicente Pedroso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pico's Damião Lobo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Catarino Santarém in the 72nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Catarino Santarém's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Damião Lobo was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. After 76 played minutes Pico got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo Benevides. Gonçalo Benevides was shown his second yellow card after 80 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. Estanque's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vicente Magalhães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Pico's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Magalhães came free, but Damião Lobo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute Vicente Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damião Lobo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, Catarino Santarém made a precise shot to the right of Damião Lobo. Pico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. When Estanque's Vicente Magalhães in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Pico's goalie prevented a goal.
