Arnout Reekers came out and tried to block the shot, but Marc-André Van Bastén slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 17th minute. GORNIK PIASKI's Boguslaw Zawaski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 20th minute of play. Boguslaw Zawaski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 23 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marc-André Van Bastén. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugon Pincoski in the 29th minute of play. Boguslaw Zawaski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 31st minute of play. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind GORNIK PIASKI's goalkeeper Boguslaw Zawaski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hugon Pincoski might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hugon Pincoski ran back to his position shaking his head. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Boguslaw Zawaski stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Mariusz Nalaskowski's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mariusz Nalaskowski helped the player get up and apologised. After 56 played minutes GORNIK PIASKI got a freekick which was hit by Mariusz Nalaskowski. In the 58thth minute of the game David Eikelkamp who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GORNIK PIASKI's Boguslaw Zawaski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marc-André Van Bastén, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 65th minute, Wim Wilmes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Boguslaw Zawaski was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc-André Van Bastén, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mariusz Nalaskowski kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Zdzislaw Dejo lost his temper 88 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Boguslaw Zawaski went to the wrong direction when Gijsbert ter Kruimer was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 91st minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Boguslaw Zawaski could save by the left post. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
