Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gaspar Coimbra kicked off to start the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Camargo in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredo Setúbal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gaspar Coimbra during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SC Melancia booed when Varelas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Coimbra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gaspar Coimbra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Varelas FC's zone, Tomás Camargo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfredo Setúbal came out of the goal and Tomás Camargo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gaspar Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Quental having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Gaspar Coimbra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 28 played minutes SC Melancia got a freekick which was hit by Heitor Carvalho. When Gaspar Coimbra came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Varelas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaspar Coimbra couldn't finish the play. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by João Almeida got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Varelas FC booed when SC Melancia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Heitor Carvalho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alfredo Setúbal. Varelas FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Heitor Carvalho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. João Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Quental having to interfere. Luís Guarda charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Guarda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomás Camargo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luís Quental showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Almeida, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Luís Quental took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Guarda charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paulo Guarda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SC Melancia's Murilo Assunção got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 63rd minute, SC Melancia's Daniel Gois seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Daniel Gois the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SC Melancia protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Daniel Gois had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of SC Melancia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Varelas FC:s goal. The referee gave Varelas FC a penalty, 65 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mário Simões, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Melancia's Luís Quental. 3-1. In the 68th minute, João Almeida ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Quental was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Luís Quental came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Varelas FC's João Almeida. But to his dismay, João Almeida quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. If João Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Gaspar Coimbra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varelas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaspar Coimbra in the 93rd minute of play forced SC Melancia's goalkeeper Luís Quental to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 97 minutes, João Almeida made it 7-1 with a short kick to the right side. SC Melancia's Luís Quental tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
