Ricardo Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eurico Vides having to interfere. Raul Albuquerque didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 40th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in SC Cruz's zone, Diogo Laureano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raul Albuquerque came out of the goal and Diogo Laureano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Igrejas struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Raul Albuquerque didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vilaninho FC. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The audience was convinced that Ricardo Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eurico Vides was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. The supporters of SC Cruz booed when Vilaninho FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubim Boaventura didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Daniel Igrejas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd match minute, SC Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimiro Zambujal to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute Daniel Igrejas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vítor Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. If Diogo Laureano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Vilaninho FC had played much better football throughout.
