Vitória de Janes's Nuno Ávila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Fiúza in the 16th minute of play. Lisandro Santaréms short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Abílio Martins to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 29 minutes, Júlio Setúbal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mangueiras F.C. and the Vitória de Janes players grew even worse after the yellow card.
