The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 22 minutes, Adelino Gentil managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Assafarge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Gentil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Viriato Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Matos hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Rogério Braga's late challenge caught a Caravelas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rogério Braga helped the player get up and apologised. João Campos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 32nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Caravelas's Paulo Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, Caravelas's Pedro Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Danilo Soeiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Pedro Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo Andrade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danilo Soeiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adelino Gentil was the one to do the kick off. When Paulo Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Caravelas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Andrade couldn't finish the play. Pedro Moura's late challenge caught a Assafarge's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Moura helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Caravelas's Pedro Moura got a free kick in the 56th minute. Danilo Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Assafarge's zone, Paulo Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Soeiro came out of the goal and Paulo Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristiano Ferro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adelino Gentil, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After a rather tough play, Caravelas's Luís Matos got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Caravelas's Cristiano Ferro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Alves in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Moura in the 79th minute of play forced Assafarge's goalkeeper Danilo Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Assafarge's Josué Rios got a free kick in the 79th minute. Duarte Oliveira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cristiano Ferro. Caravelas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Cristiano Ferro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeferino Valido, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Viriato Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
