Eusébio Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Eusébio Alves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afonso Dantas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Guterres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nuno Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Fiúza having to interfere. When Estremoz's Eusébio Alves in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Porto's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Estremoz's Alberto Pires got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute, Olívio Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 32 minutes, Armando Guterres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armando Guterres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rafael Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Coelho in the 36th minute of play. Eusébio Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the match, Eusébio Alves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rafael Fiúza. FC Porto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eusébio Alves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Nuno Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Estremoz were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Rafael Fiúza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eusébio Alves's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Nuno Coelho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Fiúza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 played minutes FC Porto got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Teixeira. Rafael Fiúza was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Joel Pinho. In the 64th minute Eusébio Alves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eusébio Alves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafael Fiúza having to make a save. Eusébio Alves struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Rafael Fiúza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estremoz. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Nuno Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estremoz's supporters rose to their feet, but Nuno Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Fiúza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Eusébio Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nuno Coelho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Rafael Fiúza skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The supporters of FC Porto booed when Estremoz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Paredes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulino Toscano hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Rafael Fiúza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusébio Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in FC Porto's zone, Nuno Coelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Fiúza came out of the goal and Nuno Coelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Estremoz's Eusébio Alves in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Porto's goalie prevented a goal. Rafael Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusébio Alves in the 95th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eusébio Alves in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rafael Fiúza saved FC Porto from getting behind. Estremoz's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
