Nuno Reis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With 16 minutes on the clock, Isidoro Carvalhal commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 16th minute. Penalty! Tomás Tavares shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. Nuno Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Morais, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Rui Carvalheira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rui Carvalheira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Carlos Carneiro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 31 minutes into the match, Mendo's goalkeeper Carlos Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teófilo Soares. Teófilo Soares might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Carneiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teófilo Soares ran back to his position shaking his head. Teófilo Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Carlos Carneiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mauro Queiroga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Carneiro having to make a save. XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Mendo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ademar Lustosa took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Ademar Lustosa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Carlos Carneiro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nuno Morais to make the kick off. 2-2 came in the 53rd minute when Ademar Lustosa all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Carlos Carneiro. Carlos Carneiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Lustosa in the 59th minute of play. Mauro Queiroga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Carneiro having to interfere. If Rui Carvalheira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Hilário Leitão notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Mendo's Carlos Carneiro. Carlos Carneiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Brás got free with Nuno Reis in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlos Carneiro didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE's Teófilo Soares shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 4-2 in the ordered_time% minute. Mendo's Carlos Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hilário Leitão in the 79th minute of play. The XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE's Teófilo Soares looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Rui Carvalheira managed to get in a good position for a shot. XANGAI FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters rose to their feet, but Rui Carvalheira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
