Amadeu Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulino Macedo in the 6th minute of the match. Simão Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Gregório Baía tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gregório Baía made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão Machado in the 10th minute of play. Mário Nascimento, 15 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simão Machado in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gregório Baía saved SC Cabecos from getting behind. Simão Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Gregório Baía tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, SC Cabecos's Paulino Macedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amadeu Macedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With 22 minutes on the clock, António Vaz commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of OS COXOS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Cabecos:s goal. Amadeu Macedo had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Jarbas Ferrão's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. SC Cabecos's Gregório Baía played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Machado in the 30th minute of play. Gregório Baía didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Simão Machado went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Manuel Neves hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Amadeu Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Macedo in the 36th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Simão Machado notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of SC Cabecos's Gregório Baía. Gregório Baía was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, OS COXOS's Amadeu Macedo got control of the ball when Martinho Macedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, SC Cabecos's goal looked a bit too open when Simão Machado came free, but Gregório Baía reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulino Macedo was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Hermes Franco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boleslaw Turek kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 55th minute Paulino Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeu Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simão Machado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Gregório Baía made a huge save. Simão Machado struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Gregório Baía didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for OS COXOS. After a rather tough play, SC Cabecos's Idalécio Rego got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute Paulino Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeu Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simão Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Cabecos's Gregório Baía proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save SC Cabecos from getting a goal against them. In the 69th minute, OS COXOS's Simão Machado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gregório Baía. Gregório Baía yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Cabecos's goalkeeper Gregório Baía, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in SC Cabecos's zone, Simão Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregório Baía came out of the goal and Simão Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 86 minutes, Ivo Baía mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Cabecos and the OS COXOS players grew even worse after the yellow card. 90 minutes into the game, Zygmunt Podwojski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. OS COXOS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Cabecos the free kick. Zygmunt Podwojski kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Ivo Baía missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 92 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Amadeu Macedo right hand side. Manuel Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Gregório Baía tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
