But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Óscar Faro couldn't finish the play. David Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Anjos in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of Agrobom FC booed when FC Porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute of the match Agrobom FC got a corner. FC Porto's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vasco Araújo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Agrobom FC's Vasco Araújo to fire away a dangerous shot which David Branco despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Manuel Barata made a kick off. Manuel Barata received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jorge Ferro came out and tried to block the shot, but Manuel Barata slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 53rd minute. 59 minutes into the match, Agrobom FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gualter Júdice came free, but Jorge Ferro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adérito Lucena's late challenge caught a Agrobom FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adérito Lucena helped the player get up and apologised. After 77 played minutes FC Porto got a freekick which was hit by Adérito Lucena. If Óscar Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Adérito Lucena came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the FC Porto fans jumped to their feet. FC Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Barata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
