Rendufe FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Amável Miguéis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 13 minutes, Alexandre Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Vieiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of SC Vieiro booed when Rendufe FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emílio Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rui Sacramento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. When Pedro Magalhães fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Vieiro's protests and gave Pedro Magalhães a yellow card for diving instead. Pedro Magalhães hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Manuel Araújo advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 35th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aldo Cordeiro made a kick off. Aldo Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Cunha having to interfere. Amável Miguéis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Paulo Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurentino Vigário hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. If Amável Miguéis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Emílio Sá's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo Cunha was relentless in the 78th minute of the game.
