The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfredo Malheiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Seabra in the 4th minute of the match. Alfredo Malheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Seabra, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. If Marco Seabra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Cochoes's goal looked a bit too open when Albertino Palma came free, but Alfredo Malheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Malheiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marco Seabra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albertino Palma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredo Malheiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Seabra's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Albertino Palma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Malheiro having to interfere. Marco Seabra scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfredo Malheiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marco Seabra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Malheiro having to interfere. Alfredo Malheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Seabra, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The supporters of Barca booed when Cochoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Januário Quintas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cochoes's Alfredo Malheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Seabra in the 48th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco Seabra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albertino Palma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Marco Seabra came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Barca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Seabra couldn't finish the play. Alfredo Malheiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Albertino Palma's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. When Barca's Marco Seabra in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cochoes's goalie prevented a goal. Cochoes's Alfredo Malheiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Cochoes from getting a goal against them. Sidónio Fagundes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Pinheiro in the 64th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Barca's Fábio Poças got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 68th minute, Fábio Poças hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marco Seabra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Alfredo Malheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Albertino Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barca played a much better game than Cochoes and deserved their victory. The Cochoes players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
