Heitor Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Guarda having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube Madeira's goal looked a bit too open when Severiano Azeredo came free, but Pertev Emir reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 played minutes Sporting Clube Madeira got a freekick which was hit by Luís Martins. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severiano Azeredo in the 24th minute of play forced Sporting Clube Madeira's goalkeeper Pertev Emir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube Madeira's Heitor Costa got a free kick in the 27th minute. Sporting Clube Madeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heitor Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Remus Savu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan Guarda was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Sporting Clube Madeira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Adaval FC the free kick. With a left leg Ivan Guarda saved Adaval FC from getting behind. When the match was over Sporting Clube Madeira could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Adaval FC throughout the match.
