Paulo Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Delfim Vital tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Cerveja fresquinha's Claudemiro Boaventura got a free kick in the 9th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Luís Aleixo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. SC Benfica's Paulo Magalhães got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 21 minutes into the game, Ricardo Correia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Benfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Cerveja fresquinha the free kick. The supporters of FC Cerveja fresquinha booed when SC Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Ribeiro got free with Luís Aleixo in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to FC Cerveja fresquinha getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Telmo Valadares hit a great ball. Paulo Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. FC Cerveja fresquinha's Delfim Vital played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Coelho in the 40th minute of play. Delfim Vital showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Rodrigues, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maurício Leão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 57 minutes, Paulo Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Magalhães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. During the 62nd minute of the match Ricardo Correia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ricardo Correia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Ricardo Correia hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Maurício Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Aleixo having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Maurício Leão in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Aleixo saved SC Benfica from getting behind. SC Benfica's Tiago Gonçalves was substituted for Gabriel Coelho. Delfim Vital took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Paulo Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simão Rodrigues during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 76 played minutes SC Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Simão Rodrigues. In the 77th minute Caetano Calheiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Aleixo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiago Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Benfica were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after FC Cerveja fresquinha's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ralf Samuelsson took the corner. Ralf Samuelsson made a great header on SC Benfica's corner, it was just that FC Cerveja fresquinha's Delfim Vital managed to reach the ball for a save. SC Benfica's Eusébio Rodrigues got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over SC Benfica could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Cerveja fresquinha throughout the match.
