A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 7th minute, Aristides Figueiredo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joel Almeida was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a rather tough play, Sporting's Gustavo Rodrigues got a free kick in the 10th minute. Joel Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nivaldo Valadão in the 28th minute. 34 minutes into the match, Cândido Rodrigues notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Grazina All Stars's Isidoro Marques. Isidoro Marques was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Joel Almeida made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Aristides Figueiredo sent off a good shot on target. Sporting's Cândido Rodrigues got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joel Almeida made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Nivaldo Valadão sent off a good shot on target. Jerónimo Sousa hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. If Gustavo Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Isidoro Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cândido Rodrigues went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting's zone, Raul Moniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Almeida came out of the goal and Raul Moniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sporting booed when Grazina All Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armindo Lobo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cândido Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Marques having to interfere. Jerónimo Sousa kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Isidoro Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vítor Matias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raul Moniz in the 96th minute of play. The Sporting supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sporting would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
