In the 12th minute Cristóvão Fagundes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Humberto Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Desp.Aves getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Gil Borba hit a great ball. Daniel Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Abrantes having to interfere. Carlos Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herberto Pinhal in the 22nd minute of play. António Abrantes made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Domingos Ferro sent off a good shot on target. In the 27th minute of the game Teófilo Luz made a throw-in which Herberto Pinhal played forward. If Domingos Ferro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Germano Lobato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Abreu having to interfere. Carlos Abreu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herberto Pinhal went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Carlos Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germano Lobato, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 46 minutes into the match, Duarte Regueira notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Desp.Aves's Carlos Abreu. Carlos Abreu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Cova da Piedadade FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Domingos Ferro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Viana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristóvão Fagundes hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Domingos Ferro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Germano Lobato could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Carlos Abreu made a huge save. When Domingos Ferro came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Desp.Aves fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Domingos Ferro couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes into the match, Desp.Aves's Daniel Viana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that António Abrantes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Desp.Aves booed when Cova da Piedadade FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filinto Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Desp.Aves's Humberto Castro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 68th minute. António Abrantes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Carlos Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Prates in the 79th minute of the match. If Daniel Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Germano Lobato's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Abreu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Domingos Ferro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. António Abrantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Daniel Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Viana ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Desp.Aves lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
